Synopsis of R.I.P.D.:
R.I.P.D., or Rest in Peace Department, is inspired by the 1999 comic by Peter M. Lenkov. The film features Jeff Bridges and Ryan Reynolds alongside a talented cast including Kevin Bacon, Mary-Louise Parker, Stéphanie Szostak, and Marisa Miller. The story follows two law enforcement agents (Bridges and Reynolds) as they track down monstrous spirits known as “Deados,” who are hiding among humans to escape their ultimate judgment in the afterlife. As they delve deeper, the agents discover a dark scheme that threatens the universe’s balance and aims to extinguish all life, prompting them to join forces to stop it.
In 2022, a direct-to-video sequel titled R.I.P.D. 2: Rise of the Damned was released. This prequel to the 2013 film stars Jeffrey Donovan and Rachel Adedeji and will be available for streaming on Peacock starting January 1, 2025.
